• in the scope of supervision of composite wood product manufacture in respect of formaldehyde release
• granted by CARB (California Air Resources Board)

Highly qualified scientific and engineering-technical staffs, excellent premises equipped with modern apparatus and research which are carried out in the Institute make it a superb scientific-research base for the wood and furniture industries. During 50 years of its existence the Institute has become a nationally and internationally recognized institution authorized to:

• conduct scientific fundamental and applied research in the scope of wood industry,
• cooperate closely with the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO) and the European Forest Institute (EFI) in the field of forest-wood issues,
• render services within the scope of activity of the Testing Laboratory of Wood, Wood-Based Products, Packaging, Furniture, Constructions and Woodworking Machines - Polish Centre for Accreditation certificate No. AB 088,
• render services within the scope of activity of the Certification Centre of Wood Industry Products – Polish Centre for Accreditation certificate No. AC 098,
• represent Poland in Timber Committee of the Economic Commission for Europe EEC/FAO and standardization committees of ISO and CEN
• act as secretariats of Technical Committees – for Wood and Wood-Based Products; Wood and Wood-Based Materials Preservation,Woodworking Machine Tools and Implements  – of the Polish Committee for Standardization;
• use of a common guarantee trademark   in the scope of furniture certification and trademark for products certified by ITD
• act as a Coordinator of the Polish Technology Platform for the Forestry and Wood Sector
