Informational and training meeting concerning the new method for testing furniture surface resistance to scratching
On 18 June 2008 an informational and training meeting concerning the new method for testing furniture surface resistance to scratching acc. to CEN/TS 15186 was held in the ITD. The meeting was organized by Furniture, Wood Structure and Indoor Equipment Testing Department.
The meeting inaugurated inter-laboratory comparative testing.
The meeting was attended by representatives of furniture factories and of producers of lacquer products for furniture industry.
The main aim of the meeting was to acquaint the representatives of furniture and lacquer industries with the new method for testing furniture surface resistance to scratching, i.e. with the method defined as method A in technical standard CEN/TS 15186.
At present Working Group 7 of CEN TC 207 is revising this technical standard prior to submission an application for transforming this standard into a European standard.
The meeting agenda encompassed:
- Informing the participants about CEN/TS 15186, i.e. a technical standard describing the new method for testing furniture surface resistance to scratching.
- Handing on description of the new test method in Polish language version to the participants.
- Carrying out, by a qualified ITD Laboratory employee, exhibitory tests for scratching resistance of chosen furniture surfaces using the new test method.
- A common performance by the ITD employees and guests participating in the meeting of an assessment of scratching resistance of furniture surfaces subjected to exhibitory tests.
- Questions from the participants concerning the new test method.
- Determination of the schedule of performing the inter-laboratory comparative tests.
