INTARG 2021 - medals for the Łukasiewicz - Wood Technology Institute
From 15 to 16 June, the International Trade Fair of the Invention and Innovation INTARG® 2021 was held for the 14th time – this time in the online formula. Łukasiewicz – ITD on Institute’s virtual stand presented two inventions, for which it was awarded with:
- gold medal for the invention: „The method of protecting the wood material against the action of fire, the barrier layer protecting against the action of fire, the method of obtaining the barrier layer protecting against the action of fire” (authors: Mariusz Jóźwiak, DSc (Eng), Andrzej Fojutowski, DSc (Eng)). The invention was also awarded special prize of World Invention Intellectual Property Association WIIPA.
The subject of the invention is a method of obtaining a barrier layer protecting against fire, a method of protecting a wood material against fire, a barrier layer protecting against fire and the use of a barrier layer for the production of component plywood. More specifically, the solution relates to a method of decreasing the flammability of wood materials using polycondensation resins, especially melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF), and flame retardants easily subject to the leaching process. In the solution according to the invention, it is possible to use pro-ecological measures that are safe for humans and their environment with the use of plywood veneers impregnated with water-soluble chemical fire retardants and non-waste condensation resin, which create a barrier layer protecting against fire.

Construction Partition made of wood The subject of the invention is a building partition with a sandwich structure with a spatial filling in the form of regular prisms. The partition according to the invention is made of wood of lower quality, including those coming from, for example, demolition of houses or wind damage. It is characterized in that it comprises at least one row between the outer plates, made of regular prisms with an octagonal base connected to each other by opposite sides. Regular prisms with an octagonal base are made of slats with an isosceles trapezoid cross-section, in which the angles α between the base and the side are 66 ± 1.5degrees . Plates and regular prisms are glued from trapezoidal strips with the same cross-section, which are semi-finished products for wall, ceiling and roof partitions.
