Dominika Janiszewska, PhD (Eng) from the Wood Technology Institute became a laureate of the 7th edition of the LIDER programme financed by the National Center for Research and Development.
The aim of the awarded project "New biopolymer adhesives modified with silanes and ionic liquids for application in wood-based materials technology" is to develop a new type of biopolymer adhesives, modified with silanes and ionic liquids, intended for application in wood-based materials technology and to optimize the method of applying these adhesives in lignocellulosic raw materials.
The main objective of the research will be to create an adhesive mass with the desired, technologically useful physicochemical parameters, thanks to which it can be used as an adhesive in the production of wood-based materials.
The developed product will be an ecological alternative to currently used amine resins, which are a source of harmful formaldehyde emission.
The LEADER programme is very prestigious. It is addressed to representatives of various scientific fields. On a national scale it is a unique and at the same time complementary project in the system of financing science in Poland. It creates a strong foundation for encouraging the competitiveness of Polish science and a new generation of Polish scientists on a European and global scale. It also contributes to the global trend of creating new, targeted instruments for financing research conducted by young scientists. Its assumption is to support the development and to expand competencies of young scientific staff in independent planning of research works as well as building and managing their own research team.
By conducting research with the implementation and commercialization potential the programme also stimulates cooperation between scientists and entrepreneurs. In addition, it encourages cross-sectoral, inter-university and international mobility.
