Scientific seminar 'Wood industry - new trends in technics and technology'
The Wood Technology Institute in Poznan organized a scientific seminar entitled:
„WOOD INDUSTRY - NEW TRENDS IN TECHNICS AND TECHNOLOGY"
The seminar was an important element of implementation of project entitled „Foresight in the wood science and industry - research development scenarios in Poland till 2020" co-financed by the European Union within the framework of Innovative Economy Operational Program 2007-2013. the aim of the project, carried out from June 2009 till January 2011, is to determine future lines of research and development in the Polish wood sector which will be the most beneficial for the grown of innovation and competitiveness of the wood sector on national an international market.

The seminar was chaired by Ass. Prof. Ewa Ratajczak, PhD - the manager of the project. Four papers were presented during the seminar. The papers addressed such issues as the innovativeness level and latest research lines in the fields of wood composites, machining of wood and composite wood materials, and wood preservation.
During the animated discussion a debate about purposefulness and necessity of intensification of science and industry cooperation in the process of creating research in the wood sector was started. Such cooperation is much needed in a knowledge-based economy.
