Silver Medal in EUREKA competition at the 61st World Exhibition BRUSSELS INNOVA 2012
The 61st World Exhibition „BRUSSELS INNOVA 2012”, held on 15-17th November, 2012, was devoted to technology transfer and implementation of technological progress. Brussels Innova is one of the most important events for inventions in Europe. Long tradition and recognition of the participants is the reason why awards granted at Brussels Innova command respect, and participation in the events connected with the exhibition is considered simply an obligation by many representatives of science and business.
This year’s exhibition gathered innovators from 22 countries (8 more than in 2011), including Albania, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Georgia, Spain, Iran, Kuwait, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Venezuela, Hungary, and Italy.
The presented Polish solutions competed within the Brussels Innova EUREKA competition, where they were evaluated by a group of more than 80 experts. The innovators from Poland won the Great Prize of the Jury and 112 medals. All in all, 16 out of 21 gold medals with merits were awarded to Polish scientists by the jury.
The Wood Technology Institute was among the winners of the EUREKA competition with a silver medal for the innovation “Ecological lignocellulosic nanocomposite for construction and furniture industry and silicone binder for its production” by Iwona Frackowiak, Andrzej Idziak, Magdalena Lubkowska, Jaroslaw Gasior, Aleksandra Sokołowska, Andrzej Miazga, and Rafał Muskus.
The solution was also honoured by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports which on behalf of the Romanian Scientific Community awarded the Polish scientists a diploma for high the scientific and technical level of the presented invention.
