Projects supporting research 2005

The Wood Technology Institute, together with partners from 14 EU states, undertok a project: „An Innovation Strategy to Integrate Industry Needs and Research capability in the European Forestry-Wood Chain". The project was a Specific Support Action within the 6th Framework Program. It lasted from September 2005 until February 2008. The aim of this Project was to match industry needs and research capabilities through an integrated strategy for innovation in the European forestry-wood chain.

One of the deliverables of the Project is an interactive database, which identifies the gap between research capabilities and industry needs of companies of the European wood industry. The database informs about the research capability, assesses it and at the same time determines the gap between demand and supply of research. Entrepreneurs - after defining the problem and formulating it into key words - are able to use the free of charge database to receive information about services from the required field offered by European research institutions from 28 countries.

Database

A long-term benefit of this Project is better adaptation of research services to the needs declared by the industry through the creation of a coherent strategy of future services. Additionally, the Project strengths international cooperation in the forestry-wood sector.
