Surface Investigation Department

The Surface Investigation Department carries out basic research, development research and services regarding new generations of nanocomposite lacquer coatings, which are to improve the durability or optimize the performance of lacquer finishing on wood. The research also concerns effective protection of wood colour against light by using nanotechnology elements, as well as new ecological lacquer products containing biopolymers and organofunctional silanes. A broad area of investigation is devoted to methodological research on the assessment of the quality and resistance of the usable surface of furniture and furnishings, especially the method of accelerated simulation of aging processes in laboratory conditions. The department performs surface testing for the suppliers of a global furniture concern using European methods, as well as according to individual customer's specifications.
